This rural site had an unusual shape which was south facing. The clients were keen to have an entertaining space for friends and family of all ages in which the children could be secure. An existing hot tub had to be utilised along with a new swim spa which provides counter-current jets to swim against giving a swimming pool experience without the same cost and space needed. A series of smaller intimate spaces all connected to each other through a central octagon area provides a meeting place that links to the spaces individually.
The octagon area was designed mirroring the shape of the sun-room within the property. This provides a dining area for the family within a central point and access to the hot tub area, the swim spa,the splash pool from the water feature, the fire place and the feature stones. The raised height allows the eye to catch all of the focal points throughout the garden while being secluded when seated due to the box hedging.
Attention was paid to the lighting which includes down lighting within the octagon, uplighting around the the perimeter walls and stone feature and lights within the decking around the hot tub and swimmer and the steps. This gives the garden the advantage of use in the evenings for all the family.
